How to solve the cracking phenomenon of composite rivets
2022/08/29
Rivets should be punched with a rivet gun. First, punch holes in the objects you want to connect, then put in the rivets, then rive the rivet gun.
Rivets: In riveting, the various parts of the riveted parts are connected by their own deformation or interference. There are many types of rivets and they are informal. Common semicircular rivets, flat rivets, countersunk rivets, semi-tubular rivets, solid rivets, rivets, stepped rivets, etc. Flat rivets are used for riveting applications under normal load.
For example, if you want to rive two iron plates with 3.2X10 flat head aluminum rivets, first drill a through hole in the two iron plates with a 3.3 bit, and then insert the butt end of the rivet into the two plates. Then use the guide of the rivet gun to insert the rivet into the thin ends of the two iron plates, and pull the handle of the rivet gun until the end of the rivet is broken, so that the thick end of the rivet has been deformed into two iron plates firmly connected
Blind rivets usually have no problem with cracks.
Cracking is often a problem when riveting semi-hollow or solid rivets:
For material problems, rivets should use special rivet lines.
In the semi-hollow concentric circle problem, the semi-hollow different cores will also break.
The cutting of the rivet head is very uneven.
The hole punch is not aligned with the center of the rivet.
What is the surface treatment method?
Electroplating: The stainless steel rivet member to be electroplated is immersed in an aqueous solution containing the deposited metal compound, and the metal to be electroplated is deposited and deposited on the member by the current flowing through the electroplating solution. Usually, electro-galvanized, copper, nickel, chromium, copper and nickel alloys, and sometimes black (blue), phosphating, etc. are also included.
Hot dip galvanizing: Dip carbon steel parts into a hot dip galvanizing bath at about 510°C. As a result, the iron-zinc alloy on the surface of the steel sheet gradually becomes passive zinc on the outer surface of the product. Hot dip aluminizing is a similar process.
During the plating process, the plated metal deposits unevenly on the edges, creating a thicker coating around the corners. In the threaded portion of the fastener, a thicker coating is placed on top of the thread, tapering along the side of the thread, depositing a thinner coating on the bottom of the tooth. Instead, a thicker coating is deposited on the internal thread corners and thread bottom.
Mechanical coatings have the same deposition tendency as hot dip coatings, but are smoother and on the bottom of the tooth. More uniform thickness across the surface
